Emil Vicale make a very cool 3D Printed Part

From 3D scan to 3D Printed Wax to Bronze casting

I know I know 3D printing is all the Buzz "now" but this is a very old technology. The 3D Part below was made in 1996, when 3D was really a new technology.  I know what your thinking, how does the art look so good? Well the key to 3D design and 3D printing is to also use main stream technology.

So in short the process is as follows:
  1. A Face was scanned
  2. The scan was made into a solid model
  3. The solid model was 3D printed on a specific printer that printed in Wax
  4. The 3D printed wax was investment cast in bronze
  5. The bronze casting was hand finished
  6. Awesome bit of photography
